William Michael Belew

Mike Belew, age 91, was a loving husband, step father, grandfather, great grandfather and a golfer extraordinaire. Mike was born in Kentucky on March 30, 1930 and he passed away on July 21, 2021 in Denver, Colorado after a short illness. Mike’s step-family knows little of his early years other than he was born in rural Kentucky and spent much of his childhood in his grandmother’s home. Mike joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was never sent to Korea, but while in the Air Force he played his first game of golf which started a lifetime love affair with the game. Mike had many stories of his travels and jobs, mostly in sales. He ended up in Albuquerque where he became involved in the office supply business and also met and married his second wife, Millie Ressler. Mike and Millie opened and operated Belew’s Office Supply. They were active members of Tanoan Golf Club and St. Stephens Methodist Church and huge supporters and boosters of University of NM/Lobo Sports. Mike and Millie sold their business after 28 years and settled into retirement travelling and playing golf. In 2017, Mike and Millie moved to the Denver Area to be near their daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In Denver they were able to enjoy many happy times with the three generations of their family. Mike loved nothing more than being on the sidelines at his great grandchildren’s soccer games or playing a round of golf with them. Millie preceded Mike in death in November of 2020. Mike is survived by two step daughters, Pamela Crine (Jim) and Deborah Garcia, grandchildren Jackie Crine, Jake Crine, Garret Garcia, Kyle Garcia and nine great grandchildren. Mike and Millie will be interred together on September 16, 2021 at 1:15, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C.
