Pursuing his visionary thinking for the RTD's future, he made proposals that are now a reality. He was President of the Denver Chamber of Conference and Chairman of the Colorado United Way. His passion for golf led him to the Presidency of the Lakewood Country Club and, ultimately, as a co-founder of the Bear Creek Golf Club, where he held a coveted “hole in one” Award. He played the finest golf courses throughout the United States. He is survived by his sons Christopher R. Johnson of Littleton, Timothy Q. Johnson of Morrison, loving companion Myra Buroughs of Denver, brother Robert L. Johnson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and grandchildren Josh Johnson of Brooklyn, NY, Shawn Fitzgerald of Oklahoma City, OK., Kerry Fitzgerald of Denver, and Bridgit Fitzgerald of Denver.
