September 1, 1947 - September 10, 2012 Wesley E. Hale, born September 1, 1947 in Omaha, NE and expired September 10, 2012 at Aurora South Medical Center in Aurora, CO of lung, brain cancer, and pneumonia. The Memorial Service will be Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 10:am until 12: noon at Potter's House of Denver Family Life Center (north end of building) located at 9495 E. Florida Ave, Denver, CO 80247. Wesley moved to Denver very early in life with his grandmother where he was being raised by her until her death at his age of 10. Her two sisters Wille Mae Jones (expired 2009, age 98) and Christel Marks (expired 1993) continued the journey of raising Wesley. He attended the Denver Public School System. High School was Manuel High. Upon finishing high school he returned back to Omaha for a couple of years with the hopes of attending a mechanics school. He was very briefly married to Kay Mitchell of Omaha, Nebraska. While in Omaha he moved in with my great Aunt, Uncle, and their two sons. It is there where he learned and became an avid player of Bid Whiz, dominoes, and any other card game one could imagine as that was the day's activity as well as alcohol consumption and much chatter. He has a group of friends that he socialized with know as the “30 weight gang” in Denver. Wesley talked much stuff. He has plenty of humor. He used to make up jokes as went. Wesley returned back to Denver for awhile and headed to Memphis though encouragement of Steve “Bodine” Bracen and his wife Jan and also lived in Orange, Port Arthur, and Beaumont, Texas. He returned to Denver in approximately in 2002. He became a part time Transport Driver for Denver Auto Auction until he had to leave because of disability in 2009. He has previously worked for American Real Estate and ServiceMaster. Wesley was a short chubby little guy when he was growing up and wore thick glasses. They didn't make very many chubby size clothing during those days. He soon grew up to be a tall handsome, 6'1” man and not so chubby. He was raised as an only child. He never got enough to eat in his mind. When he and I (sis as I was sometimes called) was sent to the grocery store in Curtis Park to get milk and bread, we often did not make it home with it. Wesley decided we would sit on the curve observing the swimmers in the pool and drinking the milk and/or eating the bread. Wesley just couldn't seem to get his life together. The good news is he wasn't a liar or thief. He always wanted to do well by people and would “regulate” if need me. He was a pleasant, humorous, easy going person who seemed to always be waiting for someone to see after him. I know he knows he was loved. Wesley was exposed to the to the Jehovah Witness faith as Aunt Mae (as we called her) was practicing that. But she had been a Methodist for 40 years prior to that. I don't believe Wesley ever went back to that faith. Aunt Cris was a Christian and most of our other family members were too. In his last days at the private assisted living home, Bible study was held. Although he did not attend, he did verbally acknowledge that Christ died for him and his sins. Wesley had no current wife or children that anyone was aware of. He has several nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn his passing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
