Toni Marie Weiland

Toni Marie Weiland (Rountree) of Lakewood, CO was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On July 24th, she was called home by her creator at the age of 81. Toni was born to Walter & Lillian Rountree in Las Cruces, NM on September 17th, 1939. She was the oldest of 7 siblings: Joni, Tom, Patricia (who preceded her in death) and John, Dan and Anna. Toni married the boy-next-door, Martin "Marty" D. Weiland, on December 5th, 1956. They were married for 60 years. Marty preceded her death on May 4th, 2017. Together they had four children, Marty, Vicki, Toby, and Lynda. Her sons Marty and Toby preceded her in death. While she attended Holy Family High School, she worked at her father's photo lab. Toni went to night school to become an executive secretary. She served as the secretary for the President of Denver Automotive and Diesel College and as an Executive Secretary for a Vice President of US West. After several years at US West, she left to pursue her dream to be an entrepreneur as a Mary Kay consultant. She served in many other positions and worked until she was 80 years old. Toni loved touring the sights of North America on the back of her husband's motorcycle. She often volunteered for the elderly and loved to stay busy. She was an active member of the Optimist Club of Wheat Ridge and the Red Hat Society. Toni is survived by her daughter and her husband, Vicki and Dan Whitfield of Crawford, CO, and daughter Lynda Bender of Thornton, CO; her 7 grandchildren, Sarah Bender, Aubrey Martinez, Coleen Elliott, Genette Gregg, Toby Whitfield, Eric Bender and Cody Whitfield; plus 9 great-grandchildren and her many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply. A celebration of her life is scheduled for 1 PM on September 18th, 2021 at the Wheat Ridge Active Adult Center, 6363 W 35th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
