Tomas Taitague Quintanilla

November 1, 1941 — January 5, 2024

Retired Staff Sergeant Tomas Taitague Quintanilla passed away on January 5, 2024 at the age of 82 at the Veteran's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Tomas was born on November 1, 1941 along the beautiful shoreline of Summay, Guam to his parents Manuel and Ana Quintanilla. The oldest of 16 siblings, Tomas enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18. He met his wife Karin Fruendt and had their first son Christobel in 1966 in Munich, Germany. He served his country proudly for over 7 years with 4 overseas tours (1 in Germany and 3 in Vietnam), and was honorably discharged after being injured in combat. Tomas received the Purple Heart and Army Commendation medal during his military service. His days as a soldier were his fondest memories, often telling stories in great detail of his time served. After the military, he worked and retired from the Post Office; was a dedicated Broncos fan; and loved fishing, his dog Tebow, playing chess, and watching his kids do judo. He was a professional gambler and earned his stripes in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He was a proud father of 4 boys, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.


Tomas is survived by his children Christobel & Gina (Giovanni & Matthew); Manuel (River & Mason); Carlos (Sabrina & Nate [Katalina, Ivan & Leia] and Cherrie [Jackson]), and (Donovan & Paige [Jayden, Tomas & Aria]), and (Marissa & Marina) of Denver, CO. Brothers Robert & Marie Quintanilla (Keysha & Richard Webb, Chad) of Tucson, AZ; David & Loretta Quintanilla (Jared & Cherie) of Las Vegas, NV; Michael & Juliana Quintanilla (Keith & Ashli Quintanilla, Chenoa Rose) of Guam; his brother Roy Quintanilla and partner Aldrin Patricio of Las Vegas, NV. Sisters: Annie & Joe Santos (Joann & Raymond; Sharleen & Vincent Bamba, Norine & Darryl Guzman) of Guam; Josephine & Ernie Redmond (Erik, Krystle & Jansen) of Guam; Lillian Quintanilla of Hawaii; Rosalind & Omar Hernandez of Steilacoom, WA. Sisters-in-laws Marie Quintanilla (Jesus Jr. & Jody Quintanilla, Jaime & Marivic Quintanilla, Jenna & Matt Stroup); and Jocelyn Quintanilla (Manjo & Marlene, Annaea & Jesse, Mark) of Guam. Nieces and nephews Derrick & Tracy Quintanilla, Daryl & Tanya Quintanilla, Laela-Ann Quintanilla & Bernadette, Melanie Lim, Teresse & John English, Faith & Erich Tucker, Johnny & Bernie Aquiningoc, Joey & Vivian Aquiningoc, Jesse Aquiningoc, Jeffrey Aquiningoc, and Jacob & Grace Aquiningoc. Countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.


Predeceased by his Parents Manuel Concepcion Quintanilla & Ana Taitague Quintanilla; His son Tomas Quintanilla; Sister & Spouse Mariquita & Juan Aquiningoc; Brothers & Spouse Frankie & Ruth Quintanilla, Jesus ”Bike” Quintanilla, Manuel Quintanilla, Anthony Quintanilla, Henry Quintanilla, Peter Quintanilla, and Nephew Manuel Quintanilla.
