July 22, 1954 - October 11, 2014 Thomas (Tom) John Falter, 60 of Golden, Colorado formerly of Bath, Maine; died peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on October 11, 2014. Tom was born in Brighton, MA on July 22, 1954, a son of John Andrew Falter and Priscilla MacDonald Falter. He grew up in Brighton, the third of eight children. He loved reminiscing about his childhood pranks and teasing his Mom. Tom served 20 years in the US Army retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served with the 1st Battalion Ranger 75th Infantry and Special Operations Forces. He served in Operation Desert Shield in Iraq, was stationed in Germany, Norway, Panama and several installations in the United States. He was very humble about his military accomplishments; never really talking about them unless asked. Tom was most recently employed at Brookdale Senior Living in Denver and the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood. He loved helping the residents and keeping his co-workers entertained with his never ending jokes and sense of humor. Tom enjoyed a good political debate and keeping in touch with some of his Army buddies on Socnet. He was a lifelong fan of all the Boston sports teams; especially the Patriots but also really enjoyed the Colorado Rockies. He was a big fan of the Three Stooges, SpongeBob Squarepants and old movies. Tom and his wife, Ruth loved spending time together whether it was a quiet evening at home or exploring the great outdoors. They spent a lot of time kayaking and camping when they lived in Maine and loved being outdoors and discovering all the beauty of Colorado. Tom especially loved the hot springs in Buena Vista, going to the Rockies games and Woody's Pizza. He loved Acadia National Park in Maine and Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. Tom was just Tom; unpretentious, happy with whom he was and content with the simple things in life. He lived the kind of life that everyone strives for but few ever reach. Tom was thoughtful, generous, loving, and kind hearted. He had a great sense of humor, loved making others laugh and could see the bright side of anything. He was a very devoted, loving and supportive husband; always thinking of Ruth first. He loved his stepchildren and granddaughters with all his heart and would have done anything for any of them. Tom will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have him in their lives. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Hynes Falter, his stepson, Derek Peavey and his wife Angie Welch; his stepdaughter, Danielle Peavey, two granddaughters, Kaylee Walker and Macey Coffin and his Mom, Priscilla Falter. He is also survived by 7 siblings, Stephen Falter and his wife Ann; Diane Butera and her husband Tony; Brian Falter; William Falter; Mark Falter and his wife Lori; Janice Falter and Robert Falter; Nieces Emily Butera, Victoria Butera, Donna Larsen, Melissa Falter, Ava Falter and Nephews Shayne Falter, Kurt Falter and Eric Falter, and many other relatives. At Tom's request there will be no formal services but a pot luck/Celebration of Life will be held at his home in Golden this coming Sunday from 1-3. He requested to have his ashes scattered at two locations and that will be done at a later date. We love you Tom and you will live in our hearts forever. We know you are God's funniest angel watching over us while you do the Curly Shuffle in Heaven. Anyone wishing to do so may make a donation to a pancreatic cancer research foundation of their choice.
