Thomas Charles Armstrong

July 4, 1955 — July 11, 2016

Thomas Charles Armstrong 65 passed peacefully at his home on the July 11, 2016. Tommy, later Tom, was last child of Donald N. Armstrong and Violet Armstrong, nee Hewitt. He was born in Boston, MA. His gender was a disappointment to his eldest sibling Elna M. Armstrong Graham who wanted a sister to even the score with her two younger brothers Andrew W. and Bruce H. Armstrong. As compensation, Tommy’s hair was allowed to grow shoulder length hair for his first few years occasionally calling his gender into question. He returned to that hair style in the ‘60’s but for different reasons. Tom was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his widow of 42 years last February 28th, Maura Anne nee McLaughlin, their son Joshua Charles Armstrong, Josh’s intended Chrissi, their son Liam and her daughter Paige and Tom and Maura’s daughter Caitlyn Frances Armstrong and her son Christopher Tolmasoff. He is also survived by his siblings, many cousins, and Nick Halaska, a surrogate son and close friend of Josh. Tom was born with a smile and a twinkle in his blue eyes. Tom was an usher, a wrangler, a builder, a designer, a reader, a challenging son and a wonderful brother and a friend to all who knew him. Tom had a passion for fishing that went beyond the catching of fish. Tom embodied the Zen and the art of fishing. Imagine Tom and his father, “Trashhook”, sitting side by side, neither speaking with their lines in a celestial pond.
