June 4, 1923 - August 22, 2014 Theda June Adams, 91, passed away on August 22, in her Arvada home attended by her three daughters. Services will be held Friday, September 5, at 2:00 pm at Arvada Presbyterian Church, 5592 Independence St., Arvada, with a reception following at the church. The Rev. Rich Stewart officiates. Theda was born June 4, 1923 in Springfield, Colorado, to Golda M (Barler) and William A. Edmunds, a rural grocer. Her sister Billie Gene was two years younger. During her childhood she lived through both the Depression and the Dustbowl, yet she described her early years as filled with fun, love, and life-long friendships. After high school, Theda attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for one year, then left to join the war effort as a secretary in Colorado Springs. She married Army Staff Sergeant Dale H. Adams on February 14, 1943. Upon Dale's safe return from the war, the couple began their family and arrived in Arvada in 1959. Theda and Dale joined the Arvada Presbyterian Church, where she remained an active member for 55 years. In 1965 Theda returned to work as a secretary for the Veteran's Administration. She retired in 1978, and the couple traveled, played golf, volunteered, and cared for their grandchildren. Theda served as a Stephen Minister, was primary caregiver for her mother, and was an active grandmother. An avid seamstress, Theda made a generation's Halloween costumes, doll clothes, and prom dresses. Theda is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and one grandchild. She is survived by her three daughters, Susan J. Phillips (Denver), Kathleen Adams (Lakewood) and Cynthia J. Oury (Arvada), her son-in-law, Leo R. Oury, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her cousin, Reba Snyder. Theda leaves a legacy of service through unconditional love. She was widely cherished for her capacity for unlimited generosity, kindness, loyalty, and unselfishness. Her loving spirit lives on in each of us. Memorial donations may be made to Arvada Community Food Bank, 8555 W. 57th Ave, Arvada CO 80002, or Family HomeStead, PO Box 40186, Denver CO 80204.
