Susie Anna (Martinez) Holmes

December 8, 1939 in Dixon, New Mexico ~ January 6, 2015 in Northglenn, Colorado Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at her home, January 6th. She was a longtime resident of Northglenn. She was married for 32 years before the passing of her husband. Became a mother in 1970 and again in 1974. Susie was baptized in 1977 as one of Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed being part of the world wide preaching work. She worked in Nutritional Services at Stuckey Elementary in Adams County School District 12 for 28 years. Susie was a wonderful mother to her two beloved sons. She had an adventurous spirit and loved life and enjoyed traveling, music, movies, sports, delicious food, decorating her home and working in her yard. Susie was preceded in death by her husband Stuart Edward Holmes; her parents, Leopoldo and Clorinda Martinez; her close aunt, Marina Griego; her brothers, Arsenio, Orlando, Leo and Ramon Martinez; and her sister, Vita Atencio. Susie is survived by her sons John Stuart Holmes of Denver, CO and Matthew Douglas Holmes of Santa Monica, CA; her sisters, Mae Martinez of Espanola, NM and Pancha Martinez and husband Leo of Albuquerque, NM; her sister in laws Lillian Martinez of Santa Fe, NM and Carmen Martinez of Mission Viejo, CA; close cousins Marcella Medina, Helen Martinez, Betty Reynolds, Delores Sherman and Betty Cordova. Loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Susie will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and by those whose hearts she touched. John and Matthew wish to express their sincere gratitude to members of various Jehovah's Witnesses Congregations, the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Thornton and Halcyon Hospice for their loving care and support. An afternoon service will be conducted January 16, 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 951 milky way dr., Thornton, CO, 80260. Reception following at Countryside Village Clubhouse, 9850 Federal blvd, Federal Heights, CO, 80260. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to "The Worldwide Preaching Work of Jehovah's Witnesses", Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 951 milky way dr., Thornton, CO 80260.
