Steven L Coleman

March 1, 1954 — July 24, 2017

Steven (Steve) L. Coleman, 63, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2017. He was born on March 1, 1954 in San Diego, California to Ben and Irene Coleman. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 39 years, daughter Katie (Casey) Gustafson, daughter Lindsay (Travis) Anderson, son Bobby (Ashley) Coleman. Steve was blessed with seven grandchildren: Mason, Tegan, Peyton, Reese, Matthew, Lucas, and Tyler, who were well loved by their grandfather. Steve is also survived by mother, Irene Coleman, sister Pam (Sal) DiMarco, brother Craig (Cindy) Coleman, brother Wayne (Cathy) Coleman, as well as extended family. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ben Coleman. Steve graduated from Ranum High School in 1972. After attending Community College of Denver (North Campus), Steve worked as a teacher for children with special needs. He taught students to ski at the Winter Park disabled ski program. Steve married his beautiful bride, Carol, in 1978. Steve worked in many sales positions, culminating in a career with Farmers Insurance, where he recently retired after 20 years. Steve was active in the Masonic Family as a Mason, belonging to Paul Revere 176, was a past Associate Bethel Guardian of Bethel 18, and served as the Treasurer of the Westminster Temple Board. Steve most enjoyed time with his family and driving his 1966 Ford Mustang. He loved to be in the water, whether swimming or boating, and was the first swim teacher for each and every grandchild. Steve and Carol enjoyed the mountains, spending countless days at the pink house in Coal Creek Canyon. He loved to cheer on the Colorado sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos. Steve was always there to help out anyone in need. He was never shy about sharing a life lesson or his opinion about anything. Recently retired, Steve and Carol were most looking forward to spending more time with their children and grandchildren. Our loss is comforted by knowing that he is with us as the brightest star in the night sky. Services honoring Steve Coleman will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 10am at Crossroads Church of Denver, 9725 West 50th Avenue, Wheat Ridge. Reception to follow. Donations in honor of Steve Coleman can be sent to Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. Information can be found here: http://www.childrenscoloradofoundation.org/
