Steven Clarke Budlong

February 20, 1956 — August 12, 2018

Steven Clarke Budlong of Denver, CO, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Steve, born to Lester Clarke Budlong and Roberta Anne Irvine, spent his early childhood in Westchester County, New York, and later moved to Columbus, Ohio during his high school years. He went on to graduate from Denison University with a dual degree in film and soviet studies. Steve’s success as a film maker and confidant led him to propel countless dreams and careers. Known as giant among personalities, Steve touched the lives of all he crossed paths with, be it in a corporate setting or a comic book store. Steve constantly gave back to those around him, embodying the principle that one can only keep what they have by giving it away. He leaves behind countless friends whom he cherished dearly and kept close throughout his life. He is survived by his two sisters, E. Gale Budlong and Carol (Carrie) Hauger, as well as his two children, Cailey (Kenneth) Penny and Stephen Budlong, as well as one grandson, Emerson Irvine Penny. His wisdom, generosity, laughter and love for God will never be forgotten. His eternal optimism will carry on in all of us. To all those who knew Steve, we will continue to remember the indescribable impact he had on us. Few compare to the brilliance and inspiration he instilled in all of us. To say he was unique would be a grand understatement. To say he will be missed is an even greater understatement. We will all hold dear to the man he was and the love he poured into us.
