Shirley Anna Haynes, age 81 of Denver, Colorado passed away on Monday May 9, 2022, after fighting a difficult battle against Cancer. She was born to the late John and Molly Dessing on April 1, 1941 (April Fools!) Shirley was born and raised in Colorado and was proud to tell people she was a native. Family and friends were very important to her, and she loved to do things with them. She had a lot of fun meeting her friends for birthdays and talking and sharing their experiences. She loved to cook and bake and even entered several chili contests at her church and won first place many times. She made and decorated cakes and even at one time owned a Popcorn and Ice-cream shop by the Casa Bonita restaurant in Denver. She made crafts, sewed, decorated, and loved working in her flowerbeds. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, bingo, wordsearches and always tried to keep her mind busy learning new things. She always had either dogs and or cats. Her cat Snowflake was by her side through everything and even during her last days she was right next to her…. unless it was windy…then kitty got scared and was under the bed. Shirley’s children say that through out her last year and a half with everything she endured she was an absolute warrior and always had a smile or funny comment with all who helped her. She stands in our hearts as a reminder of strength, perseverance, love, and compassion. Though we will mourn her loss daily we know we will be reunited in time.
