Sherman Edward Evans was born to Frances C. Evans and Roy Evans on November 28, 1935 and passed away peacefully on April 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marlene, his mother and father, and brother Paul Evans of San Diego, CA. He is survived by his children, Dave (Samiati) Evans of Aurora, CO, Joy Evans Emery of Rifle, CO, Jeffrey (Marie) Evans of Lakewood, CO, and his step-children Richard Ragsdale of Polson, MT, and Nannette (Allen) Vorhies of Golden, CO. He has five Grandchildren, Chris (Andrea) Vorhies, Tyler (Andrea) Emery, Cate Vorhies, Jamie Evans, and Brandon (Shay) Emery. He also has three Great Grandchildren, Jayden and Kaidence Emery, and Jackson Vorhies. Sherm served his country in the United States Navy with an Honorable Discharge and retired from the Denver Fire Department after 30+ years of service. He is professionally respected as a man that never complained about going to work, and he was a great firehouse cook! He found his way into the hearts of those he knew through his easy story telling way. He shared many memories that carry on his legacy as an avid hunter and fisherman, his 4- wheel expeditions, or dirt bike adventures, camping, and backpacking throughout the Rocky Mountains of Western Colorado with family and friends. In retirement, he and Marlene enjoyed traveling “every state of the union,” and many other lifetime memories together with their friends, exploring the deserts of Arizona, Nevada, and California. His tales were a treat to any who had the privilege to listen. Sherm was generally a happy man who lived his life staying in the moment, never sharing his opinion, and was loved by everyone who knew him. We will miss him dearly. In the words of his longtime friend and firefighter, “Everyone needs a friend like Sherm in their life.” Fred Penny. In Lieu of flowers, please make a gift donation in the name of Sherman E.
