Sheralyn Joan Hofstatter

June 17, 1931 — June 1, 2018

Sheralyn Joan Hofstatter, 86, died Friday, June 1 at Arbor View Nursing Home in Arvada. She was visited by many family members in the days preceding her passing which was peaceful and calm. Sherry was born a twin on June 17, 1931 to Lynn Poole Stoddard and Francis Berenice (Thayer) Stoddard in Bellview, Michigan. Sherry was raised in Michigan with her older sister Marilynne, her twin Evelyn and her brother William “Bill". She attended Bellevue High School, was very active, a drum majorette and always received high marks. Sherry attended Edward W. Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse throughout her life. Sherry met Raymond Leroy Hofstatter of Maysville, MO while he was on leave with the US Air Force. They married December 23, 1951 in Battle Creek, MI. After leaving the service, Ray & Sherry settled their family in Boulder, CO, raising 4 children and 1 niece. Sherry worked in hospitals as a nurse for several years then took a job at Colorado Allergy & Asthma Clinic in Boulder. They both retired to Branson, MO in 1987 where Sherry worked for many years as a nurse at Kamp Kanakuk, a christian athletic camp. Her employment facilitated her granddaughters attending the camp for many years. Between camp seasons, Sherry taught water aerobics at a local resort and saw many live performances in Branson. Sherry is preceded in death by husband Ray, passing June 17, 2007, and by her parents and both sisters. She is survived by brother William Thayer Stoddard (Shirley Shafer) of Caledonia, MI, four children and one niece: Deborah Rae McCarty (Mike) of Arvada, CO, Karla Kay Sweany (Brian) of Denver, CO, Mark Lynn Hofstatter (Laura Burnett) of Thornton, CO, Kurt Stoddard Hofstatter of Springfield, MO and Margaret Elizabeth Driscoll of Kentwood, MI, 6 grand daughters, 1 step grand daughter and 11 great-grandchildren. Her friends and family remember Sherry as deeply spiritual, hard working, optimistic, loyal and very loving. Services will be held at Arvada United Methodist Church on Monday, June 18th at 3:00pm with a dinner reception to follow. Sherry will be interred with her husband at the Springfield Veterans Cemetary in Springfield, MO at a later date.
