Sharon Kay Sell (née Shirley), of Milford, CT died in her Granddaughter’s home in Arvada, CO, surrounded by her family on December 17, 2015. She was 78 years old. Sharon is survived by her children, Larry and Joan Sell of Arvada, CO; Cindy and Andy Pol of Milford, CT; Kelly and Lorri Sell of LaVista, NE; and Sandi and Matt Wachter of Wayne, NE; her five grandchildren: Pat and Katie Sell, Arvada, CO; Rebecca Sell, LaVista, NE; Annika and Liam Wachter, Wayne, NE; her Sister and brother-in-law Peggy (Shirley) and Stanley Sittner and Brother Michael Shirley,  her former spouse, Larry Sell; and countless nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Shirley of Papillion, NE;  her parents, Ray and Helen Shirley of ScottsBluff, NE.. Sharon was born on September 9, 1937 in ScottsBluff, NE to Ray and Helen (Kaes) Shirley. She graduated from ScottsBluff High School in 1957 and married Larry Sell a few months later and started their family in Comstock, NE, Later moving to Minitare, Morrill and Loup City, NE where she was a hard-working Farmer’s Wife.  While in Morrill, she worked at GrayMar Manner as a nurses aide and was very much loved there.  When she moved to LaVista, NE she ran in-home-day-care. Her passion was always taking care of others. Later in life, Sharon moved to Connecticut to live closer to her daughter.  At the age of 65, Sharon pursued her certificate as a Certified Nurses Aide and became a beloved caregiver to Alzheimers’ patients.  The families of her charges always felt she was part of their family and always expressed their gratefulness for the compassion she showed and the care she gave to their family members. She was a hard-working individual who loved the performing arts and enjoyed watching Broadway shows and going out to dinner.  She was an active and loved member of the Milford Senior Center and loved spending time walking on the Boardwalk in Milford and the surrounding neighborhood. Sharon welcomed four children and set about teaching them the compassion, hard work, and skill that would forge their eventual careers. Her children remember her as a driven, hard-working, woman and a patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.  She was always their biggest cheerleader and loved to watch them perform in theater and sports.  Later, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s performances in music, theatre and sports. Over the past few years; she spent her time traveling between and staying with her children in Milford, CT; LaVista, NE; Wayne, NE and her Brother in ScottsBluff, NE. Sharon passed away peacefully in her Granddaughter’s home after a long illness. She will be remembered as loving mother, a compassionate caregiver, and a devout Christian. A private memorial will be held by the family.  In lieu of flowers, the Sell family requests that donations be made to support Collier Hospice Center at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
