Scott Lee Hanford

December 5, 1949 — June 3, 2019

Scott Lee Hanford, 69, of Denver Colorado passed away after a long fight with cancer on June 3rd, 2019. Scott was born December 5th, 1949 in Detroit Michigan to Robert and Clara (Burke) Hanford. His younger years were spent in Detroit, graduating from Redford High School and receiving his Mastery of Carpentry from a Detroit Trade School. He married Linda and had 2 children (Lance and Dawn) and moved his family to Holland, Michigan where he opened a carpet store and built many homes from ground up for 10 years. He always worked hard to care for his family, friends and employees. He then relocated his family to Colorado, opening his own flooring installation company. He spent most of his years in Colorado, except for a few years spent in Florida where he also owned his own flooring installation company. He finished his career working at a wonderful company, Focus Interiors with amazing coworkers as well as with his friend Pete. He loved the water, enjoyed fishing, reading books, and watching westerns like Gunsmoke. Scott was a very respected businessman in the flooring industry and had an immense knowledge and ability to build or fix anything. He was a true master at his craft. Scott was a very easy-going man that loved to always be busy except when he was taking a nap. He loved his naps. He had a gentleness about him that included a great deal of compassion and kindness. Scott was preceded in death by both of his parents Robert and Clara Hanford, and Sister Lynne. He is survived by his significant other Patricia Cieslak, his 2 children: Lance Hanford & Dawn (Hanford) Wood and her husband Ray, their mother Linda Hanford, 3 grandchildren: Jesse Wood, Dylan Wood and Lacy Hanford, brother Kim Hanford, nephew Joshua Hanford, niece Kaitlin (Hanford) Smith, great nephew Keegan Smith and several loving cousins. He was loved by many. He spoke his mind and you were always sure to get an honest answer from him. He loved his children and was very proud of his grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered as a no-nonsense man with a big heart, who would help anyone he could. Scott has requested not to have a formal funeral. We will gather and celebrate the very loved and respected man he was. We will have an open house Saturday June 15th, 2019 from 11:00-2:00 at Orchard Park, 1440 Orchard St. Golden CO ,80401
