Sarah Joan Rogers

September 21, 1935 — September 13, 2020

Sarah Joan Rogers Born September 21, 1935 Passed September 13, 2020. Born Sarah Joan Bouts on the family farm near Jennings, Kansas, one of six children born to Anton and Leona. The family moved to southern California during WWII, and subsequently to Denver, Colorado, where Joan attended East High School, followed by graduation from Colorado A & M College (Aggies) in Fort Collins, Colorado. She met and married Jim Rogers while both were employed at Jeppesen & Company. A son Gregory and daughter Jamie were born in 1962 and 1964 respectively. In 1965, the family moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Joan worked at the Lakewood Library from 1974 to 2002, retiring as Administrative Assistant to the library director. Joan was a loving Grandma to Clara and Charley Harding; James, Aiden and Hailey Rogers. And, she was Aunt JoAnn to many nieces and nephews. She loved all living things … birds, animals, and her garden; books, books, books; knitting, Solitaire, and puzzles. She was treasured for her pies, crust-making and recipes from her mother. She especially liked having the grandchildren around her so she could fulfill the role of “grandma”- spoiling, teaching, snuggling … all those grandmotherly things. Joan is survived by her husband Jim, son Greg (Jenalyn), and daughter Jamie (Chris). A family celebration will be scheduled in the Summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seasons Hospice at seasonsfoundation.org.
