Sandra Jean Hughes was born July 16, 1944, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Walter and Juanita Jones. She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1962 and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree from American Pathways University at the age of 64. Throughout her life, Sandra achieved her goals with patience and resolve.

Sandra will be remembered as a woman of intent and abiding faith. A member of Anchor of Hope Church for 20 years, she served faithfully as the church's treasurer for 18 of those years and in that time helped raise and manage money for a myriad of worthy causes. Sandra's proficiency with time management and planning were skills she earned during her time as a Division Supply Manager at the Auraria Higher Education Center Bookstore. While managing the bookstore, Sandra forged lasting relationships and helped facilitate and initiate other lifelong bonds.

Managing a bookstore by herself was no challenge for Sandra because she also successfully raised a son, Gregory Eugene Berry, by herself.  Gregory was born in Denver, Colorado on Mother's Day in the year 1965. Sandra was 20. Everything Sandra did, she did for the betterment of her son and her family.

Along with attending to her family's needs, Sandra also delighted in accompanying them on various adventures around the globe. From Israel, Japan, Egypt, and an abundant amount of other places, Sandra traveled the world with those she loved most.

However, her heart belonged to Denver.

Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Jones, father, Walter Jones Sr., brother, Walter Jones Jr., sister, Marva Shinault and son, Gregory Berry. Sandra’s journey in this life ended Friday, February 23, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss includes, her two sisters Patricia Ann Jones, Dallas, TX and Sharon Lee Tave, Denver, CO, two grandchildren, Olivia Berry, Omaha, NE and Evan Berry, Denver, CO. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
