Russell Edgar Wiggins

March 7, 1960 ~ May 9, 2015 After a year long battle with cancer, Russell Edgar Wiggins passed on peacefully, at his home, in Northglenn, CO, on May 9, 2015, at the age of 55. Russ was born on March 7, 1960 in Muskegon, MI, to father Richard Wiggins Sr. and mother Dawn Wiggins, who both preceded him in death. He grew up in Muskegon, MI in a large family of 4 sisters and 6 brothers. After graduating from high school in 1978, he enlisted in the United States Navy. The Navy started his passion for traveling and seeing the world. Russ married Sandy Churling Wiggins, on May 12, 2001 in his favorite place, Las Vegas. They spent their married life in Northglenn, CO with their daughters, Nichole and Erica. Russ worked as a driver for Southern Wine and Spirits since 2001.  Those who knew him know the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, sports, Poker and Craps. When diagnosed with cancer in January 2014, he was determined to beat the disease and didn’t let it hold him back from traveling and enjoying life and time with family and friends.  He remained strong and positive living life to the fullest even up until his final days. He always said “I’ve got cancer, cancer doesn’t have me”. Russ is survived by his wife Sandy (Churling) Wiggins, daughters Nichole Wiggins and Erica (Mark) Newman, and grandchildren Hunter and Brielle Newman. He is also survived by his siblings, sisters Linda (Galer) Schell of LA, Sheryl (Phil) Wentworth of MI, Susan (Richard) Sluyter of MI, and Paige Coffell Bragg of MI and brothers Ronnie (Jane) Coffell of NC, Phil Coffell of GA, Richard Wiggins Jr. of MI, Randy Wiggins of MI, Roman Wiggins of MI and Robin Wiggins of MI as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dawn Wiggins and a grandson Noah Dane Wiggins-Hamilton. Russ requested to be cremated. His ashes will be interred at the family plot in Laketon Township Cemetery in Muskegon, MI in July. A celebration of Russ’ life will be held on May 15, 2015 from 3-6 pm with a tribute to his life at 5pm. This will be held at the American Legion, 11081 Irma Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233; all are welcome.
