July 16, 1950 - January 3, 2012 Mr. Ronald Burdette, affectionately known as Ronnie, was born July 16, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur Martin and Elsie Burdette. With his mother, Ronnie soon moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where he received his formal education in the Kansas public school system. Being an only child, Ronnie was raised surrounded by his cousins. What will be remembered most of Ronnie is his big heart. He always had a calming spirit and a mellow disposition. Ronnie was united in marriage with Patricia Robinson in Kansas City, Kansas. To this union was two sons, Ronald and Dennis Burdette. This marriage was later dissolved. Soon after, Ronnie would meet Patricia Garlington and would be blessed with a daughter, Ebony Garlington. In 1981, Ronnie moved to Aurora, Colorado, to start a new life. It was here that Ronnie would find the passion of his life. Ronnie began working full time at Honeywell. Due to Ronnie's stature, he was nicknamed "Big Ron." Because he stood 6 feet one inch and weighed 300 pounds, Ronnie would become one of the most well known bouncers in Aurora. Ronnie worked as a bouncer for the Aurora Lounge (Club Mixx) and Club Spice. He soon developed a passion for his work as a bouncer and began to supervise and manage club operations. He was a gentle giant. It was here that Ronnie met the love of his life Patricia Brinson King. And to this union was born Lesean Burdette of Aurora, Colorado. Ronnie loved Saturday morning swap meets and drive-in movies, taking his own fresh cooked skillet popcorn in a big brown paper grocery bag. Throughout his life Ronnie had a gift of art as a cartoonist. His favorite thing to draw were cartoon characters. He also collected comic books and baseball cards. His favorite music was old school. In the last few years, Ronnie lived a quiet life. As he lived, so he died, quietly. Ronnie went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Brinson of Aurora, Colorado, one daughter Ebony Garlington of Kansas City, Kansas, three sons Dennis (Alycia) Burdette of Kentucky, Ronald (Yvette) Burdette of Tampa, Florida, and Lesean Burdette of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren Xavier Burdette, Katalina Burdette, D'Artagnan Burdette, Theodore Burdette, Gary Leaper and Taydean Leaper, and a host of cousins and friends. Rest in Peace! We find comfort in knowing that Ronnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and continued to have faith in God until the end. Services for Ronnie will be held at House of Hope, 551 Norfolk Street, Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, January 13, 2012, with viewing from 10-12 A.M., and Service beginning at 12 o'clock noon.
