Roland Arthur Paulson of Ames Iowa and Evergreen/Lakewood, Colorado passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 with his daughter Carrie and grandson Raleigh by his side. In addition to his daughter and grandson, he is survived by his son Rodney and his youngest brother Leonard. Rolly Paulson had an incredible 91 years of life in which he experienced two wars, the loss of two brothers (including his twin Rodney), wrote two books, raised two children and spent the last fourteen years delighting in his only grandchild.  Much of his life story can be experienced in his books: Valley of the Skunk details his growing up years in Ames Iowa and air force service years during WWII.  Heroics and Folly is a yet unpublished book about Rolly’s business adventures in Liberia, West Africa in the 1970s.  Rolly loved traveling, reading (especially history) and writing his perspective and often cynical comments about politics and contemporary society.  Rolly also had to wonderful wives, Megan Paulson (who passed away 2 years ago) and Earlene Leach Paulson as well as a girlfriend at the end of his life, Judy Bull. A celebration of his life will be held on January 23rd at the Fossil Trace golf course clubhouse in Golden from 4-8.
