December 17, 1950-October 6, 2015 Rodney Dale Miller passed away Oct. 6, 2015, at the age of 64 in Golden after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer. Rod was born Dec. 17, 1950 in Denver, the second of three children to Bill and Joan Miller. The family eventually moved to Colorado Springs, and Rod graduated from St. Mary’s in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War before returning home to Denver. Rod went to work for Coors Brewing Company in Golden, where he worked for 33 years in a number of capacities. Rod married Bobbie Miller in November of 1974, and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last fall. They had two children, Jeffrey and Brian. An avid lover of the outdoors, Rod enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, as well as spending time working on projects around the house. Rod is preceded in death by his father, Bill; sister, Regina; and nephew, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; sons Jeff (Dennis) and Brian (Amy); mother, Joan; brother, Ken (Karen); grandson Andrew (Brian Amy); and was beloved by his nephews and nieces, who treasured their time with “Uncle Rod.” In place of a memorial service, a celebration of Rod’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wanting to commemorate Rod’s life are asked to make a donation in his name to Stand Up to Cancer at www.StandUp2Cancer.org.
