Robert W. Becher, Jr. (Bob) passed away on February 29, 2024, in Denver, CO at the age of 76. Bob was born in Los Angeles on March 21, 1947, and lived in several cities during his younger years, including Bay City, Michigan, Ponca City, Oklahoma, and finally settled with his family in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob attended Edison High School in Tulsa and was active as a competitive swimmer, graduating in 1965. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, on a swimming scholarship, where he was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He later lived in Las Vegas, NV, where he pursued a second degree in Food & Beverage from UNLV. He returned to Tulsa and opened a successful restaurant, Toto’s. While in Alton, Il, he owned a food truck, Krazy Bob’s Kabobs-n-Katering, and worked on a river boat as a Food & Beverage Manager. Because of Bob’s love of people and interacting with them, he also devoted his time in the gaming industry as a card dealer in Alton Il, and later in Blackhawk, Colorado.
Bob met Charlene, and they were married in 1992. They lived in Tulsa, OK, Alton, IL, and finally settled in Denver, CO. Bob was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain, thus was known by family and friends as “Party Bob”. Bob always had a smile on his face and love in his heart and will be missed by all.
Bob and his wife attended Storyline Church, where Bob’s faith was deepened during many health crises and developed relationships with many wonderful people. Bob is survived by his wife of 32 years, Charlene, his stepdaughter Jennifer Kilborn and family, his daughter Mauri King-Archibald and family, and sister Babette Goodwin and family.
His wife and friends are holding a celebration of life ceremony on Thursday, March 21, in Arvada, CO. Further details about the event can be provided upon request. In lieu of flowers, because of the many health challenges Bob faced due to diabetes over a period of 25 years, Bob’s family is requesting that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org/donate or by phone at 1-800-342-2383, dedicated in memory of Robert Becher.
