Aurora

Robert “Mark” Muehlberg fought a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s and unfortunately passed away on September 7th, 2024, at the age of 67, surrounded by loved ones, in Aurora, Colorado.

Mark was born on July 1, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa was a very big part of Mark, and he lived there for quite a while. When Mark was 16, he obtained his pilot's license and had his first solo flight before even getting his driver’s license. His dream growing up was to join the Air National Guard but unfortunately, he could not, due to problems with his eyesight.

During the years of 1974 and 75, he traveled through Europe visiting Italy, Amsterdam and Germany with a suitcase and his acoustic guitar. He then found his way back home to Tulsa and had two beautiful kids, Amanda and Dustin Muehlberg. From Tulsa, he moved to Dallas, Texas in the 90’s had another amazing son, Reiny Rundell.

Through hardships, he found his way to Denver, Colorado in 1999 where he would find Narcotics Anonymous, an even bigger love for music and the love of his life, Janet Thompson in 2003. They began dating and, as they would tell the story, he came over in a snowstorm and never left. After dating for 6 months, in September of 2003, they got engaged, marrying one year later in September 2004 at Lookout Mountain in Colorado. Not only did he become a husband, but he became a father to Amanda Thompson, who was 4 at the time. Mark was a very proud and devoted father. They would constantly go on Daddy-Daughter dates and would enjoy watching movies together. Mark always did what was best for his family and never thought twice about it. He enjoyed not only being the best husband but was very happy to be the best father a girl could have. After several years of being clean, he was able to reconnect with his family and was able to have a loving and caring relationship with his grown kids Amanda, Dustin and Reiny.

Outside of spending time with his family, his passion was singing the blues, which he began doing at a very young age. In 2010 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame as Curly “No Shoes” Jr. He enjoyed writing music and being able to perform with some great friends and amazing musicians.

On January 24, 2002, he became a member of Narcotics Anonymous and had been clean for 22 years at the time of his passing. While being in Narcotics Anonymous he enjoyed not only sharing his journey, but he loved playing 12 step softball. He made many friends while being a part of NA who not only supported him in his music, but also in his endeavors.

Mark was known for being a great husband, father, friend and mentor especially when it came to his line of work. He was not only Vice President of Operations but was a mentor to people under him at ESM. Many people looked up to him and were able to learn how to succeed while being a part of the company. Anyone who met Mark knew how important his family and friends were to him.

Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Mari Anne, his mother, Geraldine “Geri” and father, Robert “Bob” Muehlberg. He is survived by his wife, Janet, daughters, Amanda Thompson and Amanda Muehlberg, sons, Dustin Muehlberg and Reinhardt “Reiny” Rundell.
