Precious Memories


Richard Mason Walker was born April 16, 1938, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to parents Roger M. Walker and Annie R. Fultcher-Walker. He was the fourth of eight children. Richard was raised surrounded by his three brothers, Eliott, Sa'D Syid El-Amin, and Gene: four sisters, Dorothy, Charleen, Lila Jane, and Jeanetta June. The family relocated to Stockton, California and later to Denver, Colorado in December of 1949 where he attended Denver Public Schools, Whitter Elementary, Cole Junior High, and Manual High School.


As a child at 9 years old, Richard was ordained to preach the gospel. He enjoyed singing with Lila Jane and Jeanetta June. Richard joined the army at the age of 16 and honorably discharged from the 3rd Armored Division where he was a tank operator. He returned home June 8, 1958. Richard attended the Colorado School of Mines College where he received his degree in theology.


Richard married Jacqueline. She proceeded him in death. He then met Sonia and had two children, Richard M. Walker and Cecilia Montiel'. Later, Richard had a third child Michael Cortez. All of Denver, Colorado.


Richard had many talents and lived to make people laugh with his many jokes. Richard always showed up for his family. He lived life his way. All four of Richard's sisters have proceeded him in death as well as his two brothers, father, and mother. He passed away September 22, 2023. He is survived by his three children, Richard M. Walker, Cecilia Walker, Michael Cortez, and brother Gene J. Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada. Richard has many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.


He will be truly missed. He left footprints in the sand!
