June 11, 1959 - August 5, 2012 From the Family Richard James Killen was born on June 11th 1959 in Montrose Colorado to James and Fay Killen. The family moved to the Denver area and took up residence in Thornton Colorado. Richard graduated from Highland High School in 1977. Richard was blessed with intelligence and wit. His exhibit in Junior High took grand prize at the Science Fair. He also received state honors in speech and was selected to Boys State. Richard also gave to the community. He and his sister, Cindy coached Little League Baseball together from 1979 to 1983. Richard also helped his father coach little league basketball. He also became an outstanding baseball umpire and did many games all over the Denver Metro Area. Richard worked in the banking business for various banks, in the Denver Metro Area and held top executive positions. His final position was with Citibank. He is survived by: Mother Fay Killen, Sister Cindy Killen Moris and her Husband Paul Moris, Brother Brian Killen and his Wife Kim Killen, Nieces Misty Moris, Chelsey Moris, Linsey Killen, Nephew Kyle Killen, Uncle James Wallis, best friend and Life Partner Eddie Ortiz. Richard was preceded in death by: Father James Killen, Uncles Keith Killen and Bob Killen, several Cousins, other Uncles and Aunts. Richard dearly loved his family, and his nieces and nephew were the apple of his eye. He spent the last several months of his life attending their softball and baseball games. From Eddie I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Rich since December of 2003. We met on an internet chat line and formed an immediate bond and incredible friendship. Although Rich was about 17 years older than I, we shared many fundamental interests. Richard loved to cook for people. He loved to laugh. He loved causes. He could find a sincere cause in anything. He had a strong belief that all people should vote in every election. Rich was so smart. The first time we met, he was writing a short story that he wanted to have published. Richard was well respected in the corporate world of professional banking. He held more than a few titles that would raise some eyebrows. He brought his innovative ideas and tactics to Colorado National Bank as an Auto Finance Division Manager. He went on to work for US Bank and CitiGroup Financial, where he spent the last part of his career. Rich loved sports and anything competitive. He could debate your but off too. Rich took me to my first Rockies and Broncos Games. He also took me to my first Buell Theater Musical of Phantom of the Opera. I know now that I was lucky to have met such a miraculous soul. He helped me to grow in many ways, was my best friend and my soul mate. Life will never be the same without Richard. I thank the Lord for giving him to us, and know that he is watching over all of us now. I love you Rich! Goodbye, Eddie
