Raymond Davis Horton, Jr.

Raymond Davis Horton, Jr. died at the age of 68.  His passing occurred at the Mountain Vista Health Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 10:10 pm. Born on December 15, 1946, in Wellington, Texas, he was raised by his loving parents, Faye A. (Bullington) Horton and Raymond Davis Horton, Sr. He later graduated from Wellington High School with the class of 1965 prior to achieving a bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University in 1969. He moved to Denver, Colorado in 1970, married his Wife the same year, raising his family in Arvada, Colorado.  There he enjoyed an impressive profession as a senior executive within the commercial banking community for the remainder of his career. Raymond loved music, playing the trumpet in the school marching band, the jazz band and later also played the guitar.  Singing was one of his true loves, performing in numerous weddings, funerals, various church choirs and, of course, karaoke at every opportunity.  A radio was never needed in the car. He will always be remembered for the love and devotion he held for his family, the extraordinary success story he represents as a father, the value he placed on his roots, and the love and tremendous appreciation he held for his seemingly endless number of friends. Raymond is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Kay Horton, his son, Alan Ray Horton and Jodie Lynn Ferguson, his granddaughter, Briahna Raelyn Horton, his sister, Tanya Kay Wardrup and Jim Wardrup, his niece, Stacey Kay Miller and Brian Miller, and his nephew, John Eric Embry. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Crossroads Church of Denver, located at 9901 West 50th Ave., Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033.  Friends and family are welcome to attend the service and the reception, held at the home of Alan Horton and Jodie Ferguson, immediately following.
