Randul Lee Ray

February 8, 1958 — January 12, 2019

Randul Lee Ray, age 60, passed away at his home in Federal Heights, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He was born on February 8, 1958 in Littleton, Colorado to Glenn and Janene (Taylor) Ray. Randy graduated from Arvada Senior High School. He then went on to attain his Certification of Machinist Apprenticeship in 1985. On May 6, 1978, he married Mala Marie Kaiser. Together, they had a daughter and a son. Randy and Mala enjoyed traveling together as well as spending time with family and friends. Randy worked as a machinist for Rocky Flats for nearly 10 years, after which he used his skills to machine parts for many different applications. Before retirement, Randy managed the engineering machine shop at the University of Colorado Denver, where he made lifelong relationships with teachers, staff, and students. Randy’s interests included all things Snoopy, listening to music, watching football and auto racing, and admiring fine automobiles. Some of his favorite times out and about were having lunch with his brother, hosting summertime deck parties, and gathering with friends and listening to vinyl records. He is survived by his mother Janene; brother, Doug (Pepper); his beloved wife of 40 years, Mala; daughter, Alex (Jessica); son, Adam (Rhiannon); granddaughters, Teagan and Avery; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and reception will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 beginning at noon at St. Paul’s Community Church, 8001 W. 23rd Ave, Denver, CO 80214. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery at 1:30 pm. “Be yourself. No one can say you're doing it wrong.”- Charles M. Schultz
