Ramon Lewis Carter, age 88, died November 27, 2018, in Arvada, Colorado. He is survived by brother Jack Carl Carter and sister-in-law Geneva Joyce (Johnson) Carter, sister-in-law Geneva (Parker) Carter, children Kathleen O’Halloran Holdash, Ramon Lewis Carter Jr. (Butch), Karen Ann (Carter) Hughes, Susyn Kay Carter, 25 Grandchildren, 46 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents James Arthur Carter and Alma Verona (Snider) Carter, wife Betty K (Morris) Carter, siblings James Edward Carter, Freddie Clarence Carter and Doris Gleniel Carter, and daughters Betty Lynn (Carter) Welch, Mary Lou (Carter) Tidwell, and Wanda Jean (Carter) Ewing and son-in-law James Michael Holdash. He was born as Ramon Lewis Carter on February 21, 1930, in Bessemer, Alabama. He grew up in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Air Force and saw the world. After serving honorably in the Air Force, Ray and his four children moved to Colorado to start the next chapter of their lives with Betty and was married for 52 years. Ray was a machinist by trade until 2002 and held the most important job of school taxi for four of his granddaughters, and years later by three greatgrandchildren until his passing. He joined the Elks in the 1970s and was a past Exalted Ruler 1980-1981 of the Westminster Elks 2277 and continued to be active in the Golden Elks 2740 as a sponsor and charter member. Ray was also active with VFW Post 4171 and held multiple positions including the Commander and played cards with the “guys” on a regular basis until a couple of months ago.
