Peter Berumen

Peter Berumen, 78, Arvada, Colorado, passed away on February 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born in Farmburg, Montana, September 14, 1939 to the late Joseph and Estella Berumen. He met and married his first wife Patricia L. Smith in Billings, Montana, they had 4 children together, before her untimely death in 1979. Survived by his loving wife Barbara L. Berumen of 36 years. From a young age Pete worked in the beet fields to help support his family. He later moved to Denver Colorado and worked for Gates Manufacturing. He always worked a second job either as a brick layer or construction worker. He was an expert brick layer and worked on the state capital dome when it was remodeled. He was employed by Gates for 28 years until the plant closed. Pete then took classes at Emily Griffin School to learn welding and wood working. He made many beautiful cabinets and furniture. Upon his retirement he took up what would become his favorite pastime; golf. He purchased a home in Mesa, AZ on a golf course where he and Barbara spent many winters together escaping the Colorado cold. Pete loved spending time with his family and had a very kind heart. He especially enjoyed teaching his love of golf to his grandchildren. He was the glue that held the family together. He organized pizza parties and Sunday brunches at his favorite restaurant, Jason’s Deli for any family or friend who was available for good food and conversation. The pizza parties almost always ended in a spirited game of Blitz, a card game that was popular at his family gatherings. Pete was an irreplaceable and exceptional man who lived his life his way; he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Pete is survived by his wife Barbara. Children, Brenda (Junior), Nic (Bryan), Gary (Patty), and Debra all of Denver. Step children, Richard (Carrie), Las Vegas, Mike, Orlando, and Chris, Denver. His grandchildren, Patricia (Chris), Adam, Alex, Linda, Tamara (David), Brandon, LeeAnn, Kelsi and Nikki, all of Denver. Step grandchildren Valerie, Danielle, Pam, Michelle, Randy, Bob, Steven, Jesse, Jessica, and Justin 16 great grandchildren, Brothers Sebastian, Greg, and Tony (Diane), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his grandson Michael, step daughter Patricia, step son Kurt, step daughter-in-law, Lesley, sister Rosemary, and brothers Jessie and Joseph. A celebration of Pete’s life will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Wheat Ridge Recreational Center, Carnation Room, 4005 Kipling St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212.
