Patricia Guy Russell, of Paonia, Colorado passed away on December 7th, 2015. The oldest of five children of Herbert and Marilyn Guy. She was born on November 9, 1957 in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School 1975 and moved straight to Colorado where she met her soulmate. On August 8th, 1980 she married Charlie Russell. They had two boys, Henry (1985) and Elliott (1989). The family moved to Paonia in 1993 and started their roots on small five acre farm on Lamborn Mesa. Patti was full of life, made many friends, and always tried new things. Over the last 22 years she raised horses, pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and dozens of peacocks. She had fruit trees, a half acre garden, and several acres of alfalfa hay. Patti was usually found planting trees, mowing her enormous yard, taking care of her animals, cleaning out irrigation ditches, or riding her horses. This unique woman was definitely "out standing in her field". One of her favorite things to do was backcountry elk-hunting with her horse Hatchet and her muzzleloader. Patti is survived by her husband Charlie, her son Henry, her son Elliott and his wife Laura, sister Vicki Long, sister Peggy Havens, sister Wendy Rabon, brother Earl Guy, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Patti's wonderful spirit and amazing life will be held at the Blue Sage Center For the Arts at 228 Grand Ave., Paonia, CO 81428, on December 12th, 2015 starting at 2:00PM. Memorial donations may be made in Patti's name to Citizens for Animal Welfare and Shelter (CAWS) at cawsonline.org.
