Palma Van Blerkom married her childhood sweetheart Merrill Van Blerkom, also of New Your, on June 20, 1954, and thereafter raised five children, Kim (Savidge) of Avon, Connecticut, Lori (Montreuil) of Long Island, NY, Suzanne (Burton) of Arvada, Colorado, Janine (Harker) of Franklin, Tennessee, and Matthew of Colorado. She was a devoted sister to her siblings, Noma Engelbert of Euless, Texas, Jerry Poturica of Douglaston, New York and Joyce Poturica of Sea Cliff, New York, and Matthew (deceased). She was blessed and a loving grandmother to her ten grandchildren, Joseph, Steven and Matthew Savidge; Alexandra and Genevieve Montreuil; Kelsey and Emily Burton; Nicole and Katelyn Harker; Joseph Van Blerkom and two great granddaughters Noelle and Annabelle. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her, but most vividly is the truth, that in the midst of life, we are in death, and so God has willed otherwise, and has taken her away from earthly happiness to brighter joys in Heaven.
