May 25, 1920 - November 30, 2012 Arvada, CO. Survived by loving and treasured wife of 70 years Margaret Rowland; daughter Susan and her husband Bob Hefner, and son Chris and his wife Kathi Rowland; granddaughters and their spouses Shari and Chris Hess, Jennifer and Michael Orenstein, Deanna and Kurt Barkley, Melissa and Walt Stauffer; great- grandchildren Christopher, Caleb, Gabriel, Brenna, Kaeleen, Kyle, and Branson. Also survived by three brothers, his nieces and nephews, and a large community of very special and cherished friends. Orville was a Colorado native, born and raised in Denver, proudly served our country in World War II and the Korean War, worked as a machinist and tool and die maker at Silver Engineering Works, Sundstrand Aviation, and B K Sweeney Company. During his working years, he was devoted for 16 years to restoring an elegant historic home in Northwest Denver. He enjoyed his retirement being physically active (regularly visiting the Apex Recreation Center in Arvada, his "second home"), woodworking and restoring antique furniture, dealing with the frustrations of his home computer yet marveling at the worlds he was able to reach through it, reading, attending community activities in Arvada and surrounding areas, and being a handyman and master of all trades. The family would like to express deepest appreciation to the staff of Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge for their wonderful care and comfort during the last three days of his life. Please hold close your fondest memories of this dear man we all love. Cremation has taken place through the services of Malesich Shirey, and his ashes will be scattered at a later date in his beloved Colorado mountains.
