December 20, 1923 - September 15, 2013 She was born Opal Mims to Ermine Clinton Mims and Donia Belle (Herald) Mims, at the Herald family farm in Thompson Valley, near Tazewell, VA. Her father passed when she was only 3 and her mother relocated to the Bluefield, VA area where she eventually met and married Charles Allen Hale, Sr., of Hale Dairy in Hales Bottom, VA. In 1944 she met William Wescott King, a U.S. Navy medical corpsman, during a trip to California. They were married a year later on July 31, 1945. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, who passed Christmas Day, 1986; a sister, Stella Jane Moore passed in 1993, oldest son Jerry Allen King who passed in 2009, and youngest son, Stephen Timothy King who passed in 2012. Until 2004, when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, she continued to maintain her home in Northglenn, CO. At that time she began living with her son and daughter-in-law in Frederick, CO. She is survived by her son, Dan (Diane), of Frederick, her daughter, Donna (Manny), of Northglenn, and a brother, Charles Allen Hale, Jr. (Nancy), of Tucson, AZ. Additionally, she has eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. A private celebration of her life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, and/or El Jebel Shrine Temple's patient transportation fund.
