Nicole Marie-Joseph Mosher was born on March 28, 1939, and left for the heavens on December 6, 2020, to join her father Jean Charles Nicolas Tref and mother Jeanne Sidonie Augustine Tref. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Baret, Nathalie Baret, and Jessica Mosher-Knoshaug; son-in-law Eric Knoshaug and Patricia's fiance Andre Roberts; grandchildren Ava, Tahlia, and Tref Knoshaug; sister-in-law Mary Ann Smith; and the French LaPlaige and Tref families. Born in Vincennes, France, Nicole or "Nikki" was an avid tennis player, whose passion and dedication lead her to compete in Roland-Garros as a teenager. She continued to play tennis and to remain very active throughout her life, even after acquiring U.S. citizenship in the 1970s and marrying her husband of 40 years, the late Harold "Pat" Mosher. Along with her husband and daughters, Nicole traveled the world, visiting such places as Vietnam, Morocco, Russia, Norway, and Spain. She embraced all cultures and spoke French, English, and Spanish fluently. Nicole received her Ph.D. in Spanish from UCLA in the 1980s and became a French professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, earning a myriad of best teacher recognitions due to her dynamic and devoted nature. As a mother (Maman) and grandmother (Mamie), Nicole treasured her time with family. She loved cooking French meals for the holidays, was nurturing and humorous, and leaned toward a positive outlook. She was willing to do anything to make her friends, students, as well as children and grandchildren happy. Determined to achieve her dreams, Nicole left the earth on Saint Nicholas Day, a day we have always celebrated as a family to honor her life. Nicole did not let dementia determine her final days. Nicole Marie-Joseph Mosher, true to her nature, had the last say. May she forever run in peace.
