You know those individuals who when they walk into a room, their sheer presence lights it up? That describes the beautiful spirit that was Natalia Colon Silva.
Despite an upbringing mixed with poverty and violence, Natalia’s spirit was not deterred. She was a survivor, a lover of life, a kindhearted person who judged no one. Natalia loved unconditionally and forgave unquestionably, even those who did her wrong.
Born on October 4th, 1951, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Natalia passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on December 14th, 2020, in her eldest daughter’s home, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, following a hard-fought battle with liver cancer.
Natalia is survived by her loving partner, Warren Vance; her daughter, Angela Mateus, and son-in-law, Andrew Snider; daughter, Natalie Silva, and partner, Scott Allison; four grandchildren, Devin Silva, Sebastian Snider-Mateus, Ziggie Silva and Oona Snider-Mateus; brother, Miguel Colon; sisters, Sara Colón and Maria Berdeguez; plus her many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved deeply and whose hearts she is imprinted on forever.
Natalia was preceded in death by her parents, Eugenio and Gabriela Colón; sisters Hilda and Carmen; brothers, Luis, Victor, Sergio, Israel; nephews, Raphael and John; and husband, John Silva.
Natalia’s infectious smile and gentle demeanor will be missed and remembered fondly.
A private celebration of her life will take place in January among family and friends.
