Nancy Jo Wolf Flett died peacefully with family on October 12, 2018 from complications of recent heart disease. Nancy was born September 27th 1936 in Wadena, Minnesota. She grew up in Staples, Minnesota where she was salutatorian of her Staples High School graduating class. She attended the University of Minnesota, earning a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration. There Nancy met people who would become an extended family for this only child. This included Galen Wilson, and Margaret Flett, who would later marry one another. They introduced her to Margaret’s brother Charles Flett when Nancy and Charles were active in the Minnesota Young Democrats. Nancy married Charles and they moved to Renville, Minnesota where they had a son, Michael. Following Charles’ law career they moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After moving to Newcomb Street in Arvada, they had a daughter, Marguerite. Moving further north in Arvada, she was an involved mother for her kids, worked as a teacher’s aide at Juchem Elementary School, and tirelessly worked as a volunteer for the Jefferson County Democrats. She also actively supported her husband as he practiced law and ran for political office. She was elected to the Colorado state legislature in 1974. Nancy enjoyed being an active part of government, reading three newspapers a day to keep abreast of what was happening in her district. She also researched countless pages of proposed bills and was a sponsor of the bill that created the Standley Lake Regional Park. Following her time at the state capitol, she was appointed to be the Jefferson County Public Trustee, where she enjoyed working with the staff and the public. Her next career move was to join the law firm of Fairfield and Woods as a legal assistant with a specialty in real estate. She held a similar position at the law firm of Ireland Stapleton until she retired and continued to live in Arvada. In retirement she enjoyed travels to locations north and south of the U.S. as well as throughout Colorado. She continued to keep abreast of current events with voracious reading of newspapers and magazines. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents William W and Teresa Smith Wolf, her special Aunt Agnes Smith, her brother-in-law James Flett, and brother-in-law Galen Wilson.
