August 27, 1925 - October 15, 2014 Morris David “Dave” White, of Arvada, Colorado, died Wednesday, October 15th in his Arvada home at 89 years of age. Dave was born August 27, 1925, to Archie and Ruby J. White in Indianapolis, Indiana. When he was 2 years old, he moved to Los Angeles, California. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in September 1942 and served on the USS Phoenix in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He was honorably discharged in September of 1945, then enrolled in Los Angeles City College. He earned his degree in Business Administration in 1949 and began a career in Advertising Promotions. In September 1950, he met Bertha Edna Collins on a riverboat in Memphis, Tennessee, and they married on November 2nd. They lived in Paragould, Arkansas, with their three daughters, whom he loved very much. He had a way of making each one of his daughters feel very special in their own unique way. He also had a very big, extended family, and it was amazing how many different branches of the family would tell his daughters how he had supported and encouraged them throughout the years. He was loved by all. He loved baseball, especially the Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing the Ukulele and sang many songs to his family throughout the years. Some of his favorites were Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy, Good Night Irene, Shoo Fly Pie and Home on the Range. He is remembered by all as a gentleman that treated everyone with respect and kindness. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ruby - his sister, Juanita - his half-brother, Robert  his step-mother, Agnes - and his step-sister, Edna. He is survived, to cherish his memory, by his best friend, Bertha Edna White, his daughters Jane Mayfield and husband Danny of Toone, Tennessee  Nita Palone and husband Tony of Arvada, Colorado and Jean White of Paragould, Arkansas. He also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, four grandchildren (Ashley, Amy, Matthew and Zachary), five great-grandchildren (Patience, Kylie, Solace, Jan and Lilah), three half-sisters (June, Dolores and Mary Dawn), one step-sister (Katie), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. At Dave's request, we will have a simple military funeral at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, October 23rd at 2:15 PM. There will be a brief viewing for family and friends, prior to the funeral, at the Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home, 5701 Independence Street, Arvada, Colorado at 12:00 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Dave's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Veterans of Foreign Wars or any veteran's organization of their choice.
