Michaela Maria Higgins

Michaela Maria Higgins was born on September 7, 1962 and left this world on February 10, 2018. Michaela is survived by her three brothers, Timothy (Catherine) of Boulder, Christopher (Victoria) of Louisville and Jeffrey of Paonia, plus 3 nieces, 2 nephews and one grandniece. Michaela’s childhood was spent primarily in Arvada Colorado, where she excelled in high school in music and dance. Michaela received a BA in Accounting and embarked on her CPA career, which carried her to Maui, Telluride, Aspen and Vail. Eventually Michaela formed her own private practice, assisting small businesses with all accounting needs. Michaela’s interests included travel, literature, and the outdoors. Michaela was the primary care giver for her Mother during the last 10 years of her life, for which we are eternally indebted to her. Michaela’s life was marked by her love of animals and devotion to those less fortunate. Michaela regularly volunteered at local Homeless shelters, and was a long term supporter of the Humane Society. Her heart was large, even when her body was failing. Michaela’s strength during her lengthy illness touched all around her. Michaela is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Dorothy Higgins. Services for Michaela will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Shrine of St. Anne’s, with internment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
