August 1, 1945 - May 23, 2013 Michael "Mick" Allen Lawson 67, of Thornton, CO, died May 23rd 2013. Mike was born on August 1, 1945, in Beloit, KS. He is the son of the late Elma F. Lawson and Ralph C. Lawson of Beloit, KS. He has two late sisters Baby Joyce and Charlotte McCraken. Mike is survived by Marlene, his wife of almost 25yrs. He was the proud father of his son Cory Lawson and girlfriend Stephanie Stephenson of Thornton, CO. Stepfather of Marla Baughman (Ed), of Thornton, Gwynlyn Bevel-Winfree (Robert) of Colorado Springs, and Darrin Jones (Donna) of Idaho. He had ten wonderful grandchildren and twelve great grand children. His beloved mother-in-law Helen Case of Federal Heights, "outlaw" as he called her! One brother Jim Lange (Mary) of Beloit, KS. Twelve nieces and nephews along with their children in Kansas and California. And so many great friends he met along the way. He graduated from Beloit High in Kansas. He worked on the Kansas Highway Crew, gas station, a Postal Clerk in the air force (Rank Sargent) and a truck driver for A.B.F. and Yellow Freight. Mike was a past member of the Colorado Mountain Club. He loved cross country skiing, hunting, photography and genealogy- "Hunting Dead People", which he loved to do with his wife Marlene. He was a member of the retired Teamster association-local #17. Mike loved to go to the monthly meeting and win the $25 check. His favorite saying was " I am old, retired and have a bad disposition." .He is very well known to give the best "wet willies" to his grandchildren. Burial and graveside services will be held at Fort Logan, Monday, June 3rd at 1:15pm, Staging Area "C". Celebration of Mikes life and a dinner, will be held at the Northglenn Elks Lodge after graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rocky Mountain Cancer Center (88th Huron), and St. Anthony Hospice (1391 Speer Blvd. Suite 600, Denver, CO 80204) Arrangements are under the direction of Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home Colorado Crematory of Arvada.
