Mary Viola Ray

April 14, 1940 — October 26, 2022

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Mary V Ray, passed away at her home in

Arvada, Colorado. Mary was the third of five children born to Jim and Carmella

Ventrello. Mary graduated from South High School in 1958. She worked in

daycare throughout her early career, and she also owned her own in-home

daycare for almost 40 years.

First and foremost, Mary loved her family. From spending every Sunday at her

parents’ house having spaghetti dinners or KFC chicken, to pinochle games and

poker parties, bronco’s watch parties and everything in between. She loved her

friends and going to Black Hawk to gamble a bit. Mary was creative and wise.

She was fun-loving and ornery, but one of the sweetest people you would ever meet.

Mary had a kind heart, a generous and caring soul, and was there for anyone that needed a

friend, a smile, or a hug.

Mary loved to read. Stephen King and Dean Koontz were her favorite authors.

She loved scary movies, country music, and singing to the radio. Mary loved

jigsaw puzzles, playing games on her tablet, and; probably most of all, playing

video games with Jacob and Angie.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Darcy (Patrick) Post of Arvada, Colorado; Angie

Burke of Ottawa, Kansas; and Shirley (Barry) Messick of Sequim, Washington; her

grandchildren: Jacob Burke, Abigayle Post, Andrew (Amanda) Messick, Wendy

(Charles) Buchner, Chris (Jennifer) Burke; and her great-grandchildren: Wesley

Messick; Emma, Madelyn, and Cody Burke; and Rory Burke. Mary is also survived

by her sister, Betty Dunn; her brother, Jim Ventrello; and numerous nieces and

nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Robert Boyd, her

second husband, Robert W Ray, her brother Chris Ventrello, and her sister

Carolyn Long.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. on

Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church. A
