Martin Dennis Weiland

August 27, 1939 — May 4, 2017

Martin D. Weiland, of Wheat Ridge, passed away May 4, 2017, after a long illness. He was 77. He was born in Denver Colorado on August 27th, 1939. He married Toni Rountree, the girl next door, on December 5th, 1956. He attended Cathedral High School, where he was an all-state athlete. Marty worked with his parents, Raymond and Peggy Weiland at their Carnation greenhouse, in Wheat Ridge for many years. He retired from North West Lakewood Sanitation after 23 years. Marty was a Wheat Ridge Volunteer Fireman for 25 years, as well as the Assistant Chief and Chief of Fire Investigation. He loved midget car racing; a driver, owner, and flagmen at RMMRA. Later in life, he enjoyed touring North America on his motorcycle with his wife, Toni. He enjoyed the Colorado outdoors, growing up he went hunting and fishing with his father Raymond, later in his adult life, loved fishing. He is survived by his wife Toni, and daughters Vicki Whitfield, and her husband Dan Whitfield of Crawford, Colo., and Lynda Bender of Thornton. His sons, Martin P. Weiland and Toby Weiland, preceded him in death. He has seven grandchildren, and soon to be eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at: The Wheat Ridge Active Adult Center, 6363 W 35th Ave., Wheat Ridge, 11:00 am, June 3, 2017.
