July 25, 1917 - December 28, 2014 Marjorie Marie Barnes - 1917 - 2014 Marie went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2014. She will be laid to rest on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook Funeral home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Marie and her husband, Paul, opened Paul's Beauty College in 1956 and was a well-known trainer of hairdressers and makeup artists in Oklahoma for thirty years. Marie opened her first beauty shop in her home in Allen Oklahoma in 1934. During World War II, she worked at Tinker Air Force Base in accounting for weapons acquisition. Following the war, Marie returned to cosmetology. She married Paul in 1944 and together they revolutionized education of hairdressers all over the world. Marie was asked by foreign governments in Europe and the Middle East to come and train their hair professionals, and she traveled throughout the world with the United States competition team. Marie was elected to President of the Oklahoma Cosmetology Association, the XYC club, and received honors from the State of Oklahoma and National associations. She was a regular member of the Britton Baptist church and the Westwood Chapter of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron. In 1995, she moved to Denver, Colorado to be close to her beloved granddaughters. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Barnes. She is survived by her son, Ronald D. Barnes, her daughter, Rose Mary Zapor, and five grandchildren.
