Marjorie E. Steinmetz

June 17, 1934 — August 19, 2024

Marjorie E. Steinmetz, 90, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away August 19, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Wheatridge, CO. She was born June 17,1934 in Henderson, CO to Henry and Martha (Moore) Palmer and was a descendant of early pioneer settlers in Colorado.

During WW II, Marjorie relocated with her parents to Southern California. She graduated from Lynwood High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from University of California, San Francisco. While at UCSF, she met and married her husband, Robert D. Steinmetz, a pharmacy student. She graduated in 1954 and started her career as a Registered Nurse.

Marjorie and Robert settled in Carmel, CA, where they raised their daughters and worked in their respective careers.

When Marjorie and Robert retired in 1996, they returned to Marjorie’s home state of Colorado, where they enjoyed scenic drives, skiing, as well as old and new friends. They made many wonderful memories. Marjorie was active in numerous organizations, including Daughters of the American Revolution, Jefferson County Women’s Republican Club, Colorado Classic Thunderbird Club, Columbine Poodle Club, and the Green Mountain Knitters Group, until her health declined.

Marjorie loved nursing, reading, staying up on current events, standard poodles, knitting, sewing, gardening, and most importantly, being a grandmother. She treasured spending time with her granddaughters.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Larry) Steinmetz-Malato of Woodinville, WA and Lee Ann (Kurt) Prunty of Evergreen, CO; and granddaughters, Jenna Prunty of Washington D.C. and Lauren Prunty of Blacksburg, VA.

Per Marjorie’s request, no funeral services will be held. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
