Marion Reeder, 86 of Colorado Springs, passed away February 8th, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Arno and Malinda Capelle, June 10th, 1933 in Hazelton, North Dakota. Marion moved to Plymouth with her parents when she was 1 year of age. She loved playing the clarinet and after graduating from Plymouth High School, she attended business college and worked in her father’s store, Capelle’s Appliance. She sold records and met several famous singing groups who came into the shop for record signings, including the Doo-wop band the “Crew Cuts” promoting their hit songs including the familiar tune from the animated movie “Cars”, “Sh Boom”! Marion married the late Duane Reeder in 1956, where they settled in Arvada, Colorado to build their home and raise their family: Debra (Debbie), Robert (Bob) and Patricia (Patty). Marion moved to Colorado Springs later in life. She is survived by two daughters: Debbie Shelton (Husband, Ron), of Colorado Springs, and Patty Kalmbach (Husband, Ed) of Westminster, Colorado. She is also survived by four beautiful grandchildren, Christina Martin (husband, Soapy) of Stevensville, MT, Heather Olmstead (husband, Greg) of Ft. Collins, CO, Joshua Kalmbach of Westminster, CO and Ryan Kalmbach of Westminster, CO. She also has four precious great-grandchildren, Caileigh & Braedon Martin of Stevensville, MT and Isabella & Oakley Olmstead of Ft. Collins, CO. Although Christopher and Danielle Shelton were not maternal grandchildren, they always referred to mom as grandma. They all loved her so much. Marion is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and faithful friends who loved her dearly and who have stood by her side through the years. Marion was predeceased by her five siblings and her son, Bob Reeder in 2011. Marion was an amazing mother and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and his business to many places like Moscow, London, Paris, Helsinki and Honolulu. She loved to cook and bake and do crafts. She made the most out of every holiday and birthdays with decorations and beautifully decorated cakes. She made beautiful dresses for her children and grandchildren that have been passed down from generation to generation. Marion’s favorite way of celebrating her birthday was to go to the zoo and see all the animals with her family around her. Her favorite time of year was Springtime, watching the trees bud and the flowers bloom. You just knew the next phrase from her would be … “I just love this time of year… look at all the different shades of GREEN!” She adored worshipping God, celebrating Christmas and Easter, hearing the choir sing the Halleluiah Chorus and the sound of the brass choir. She closely followed the latest news of the Royal family and has almost every magazine article ever written about William and Kate and Harry, Meghan and the Queen. Lastly, she believed that Johnsonville® Brats are the only real “German Brat” and of course she loved “any kind” of dessert. She ALWAYS had room for dessert! Marion had an infectious laugh that could be distinctly heard. She was also immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She will be greatly missed by all. Viewing ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 15th at 9:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado immediately followed by the funeral service. There will also be a Celebration of Life service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church 4125 Constition Ave. in Colorado Springs, CO at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Gideons International.
