Marilyn Rita Canjar

Marilyn R. Canjar February 24, 1932 - May 14, 2016 Marilyn Canjar, born in Dayville, Connecticut on February 24, 1932, died in Denver, Colorado on May 14, 2016. She is preceded in death by Tom, her husband of 63 years, son Vincent Michael, and daughter Sheri Lynn (Francis). She is survived by her sons Mitch and Arnie, and her daughters Theresa and Debbie. Marilyn's legacy includes her daughters-in-law, Becky and Teresa, son-in-law Dave Kehl, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, and 7 great-grandchildren. Marilyn graduated from Holy Family High School in 1950, and married Tom the day after graduation. She was active in school and church activities at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish in Denver, where they attended for many years. Marilyn started the Franciscan Circle there in 1961, which was dedicated to the care and maintenance of the external Prayer Park and grounds around the Grotto. She taught herself how to sew and crochet, using her exceptional talents to design and create clothes, blankets, and decorative items for her family and friends. Marilyn touched countless numbers of lives through her commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous. Those who knew her through the Alano Club, and other AA venues, benefitted in untold measure from her wisdom, guidance and no-nonsense approach to sobriety. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We love you, Mom. Rest in peace, Nini. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at St Dominic's Catholic Church, 29th & Federal Blvd, Denver, CO. Recitation of the Rosary at 9:40am, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.
