Maria Luisa Mercado

May 6, 1923 - June 30, 2012 Isa peacefully passed away on June 30, 2012 in Commerce City, CO. She was born on May 6, 1923 in Puerto Rico. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Mercado and Luisa Hernandez,husband of 50+ years, Luis F. Cordero, two sisters, Petra and Magie and brother Hene. She is survived by her children, Vicenta Cordero (Companion, Carolyn Habel) of Denver, CO and Luis F. Cordero (Luz Cordero-Deceased) of San Juan, Puerto Rico; brother, and Angel Mercado, and her grandchildren Luz Onilda, Vivian Elizabeth of San Juan, Puerto Rico and Luis Antonio of Connecticut. Also she is survived by her four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Isa was an X-ray Technician and studied in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In her younger days she was a volunteer for her church in many capacities. She lived in Commerce City during the warm weather and in Sarasota, FL in the colder weather months. She always liked sewing baby clothes and recieving blankets for the new born children in the church. Isa loved flowers and she grew the most beautiful vale-like orchids in her garden in Puerto Rico. She had a strong devotion to read the bible everyday. Her favorite psalm was Psalm 23, "The Lord is my Shephard there is nothing I shall want..." Isa was called "The Queen of Smiles: by her family, friends, church sisters and brothers and everyone she would met. Services will be held in the fall in San Juan, Puerto Rico Where her remains will be laid to rest with her husband.
