January 21, 1933 - April 22, 2012 79, son of Ira and Hazel (McOllough) Allen, was born January 21, 1933, the 9th of 10 children, at the family home in Wright County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Clarion High School. Manson served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany from April 28, 1953 until his honorable discharge on April 14, 1955. Manson married Wanda Larson in 1955, the couple later divorced. Manson lived in Eagle Grove most of his life and drove truck for Giest and American Concrete. Manson's passion in life was dancing hence the nickname Dancin' Manson. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church. Manson passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 79 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Evelyn Soren, Ransom Allen, Myrtle Hawkins, Leona Barnes and Ray Allen. Survivors include his children: Jeff Allen (Mamie) of Bend, OR, Susan Stengel (Steve)of Morrison, CO and Todd Allen (Sophia) of Tigard, OR; seven grandchildren: Heidi, Colleen, Jason, Joseph, Matthew, Ava, and Tristan; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Christine; siblings: Esther Johnson, Florence Staelens, Leo “Mac” Allen and Merle Allen (Roberta) and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating.
