Luis J. Esparza

March 1, 1961 - May 6, 2013 Luis J. Esparza, 52, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Luis was born on March 1, 1961, to Josefina and the late Bruno Esparza in Anaheim, California. He was raised in Juarez, Mexico, and spent the majority of his life in Denver, Colorado. Luis had a unique sense humor and enjoyed laughing with his children and family. He was the life of any party and could always be found on the dance floor; it was clear he was having a good time when he began singing all of his favorite songs. He loved his VIP weekend trips to Central City and Blackhawk, and would always extend an invitation to family and friends to join him. He also enjoyed cooking and there was no way to visit his home without being served a full plate of food. Luis was a very caring person, and he would lend a hand whenever possible. Luis was a beloved son, brother, father, husband, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Esparza, and children and stepchildren, Vanessa Esparza; Alex Esparza; Andrea Esparza; Aaron Esparza; Alyssa Esparza; Adam Esparza; Erica Hansen; Jordan McMichael; Elizabeth McMichael; and grandchildren Landen, Luis, Kennedi and Isaiah Salazar. He is also survived by his mother, Josefina Esparza; sisters Elena Abeyta, and Estella Hernandez and her husband Alberto Hernandez; brothers Elias Esparza and Eddie Esparza; former wife and friend Marisela Martinez; as well as his loving aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends. Funeral arrangements will be held at Crossroads Church, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, on Friday, May 10, 2013, beginning with a viewing at 10 am and followed by the services at noon. A reception will continue immediately after the services for close family and friends.
