Loy Martinez (90) of Thornton, Colorado passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2022. Loy was born in Lynn, Colorado on March 28, 1932 and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. Loy is preceded in Death by his wife Lucille Marie Martinez (Herrera). Son, Stanley Martinez, wife Judy Martinez, grandkids Matthew Martinez, Jacquelyn Martinez, and Vanessa Roybal. Daughter, Donna Adkins, husband Patrick Adkins, grandson Nicholas Adkins.
Loy started his government career in 1952 at the Pueblo Ordinance Depot and was drafted by the Army in 1952 where he served until 1954. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he achieved the rank of Corporal. From there he went to the United States Post office in 1955 and retired in 1990. While at the postal service he was awarded many distinguished service awards for his job performance. With his military time and prior government positions, he retired with 38 years of government experience.
Loy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was always thinking of others even up to his time of death. Loy was also one of the biggest Colorado Avalanche fans. Hardly ever did a game go by that he didn’t watch.
